ZION RESCUE IN ACTION DURING TYPHOON "MARING"

ZION RESCUE IN ACTION DURING TYPHOON "MARING"

Monday, Aug 19, 2013, 8:00 PM - the group  responded to the call in San Mateo. We stayed in MDRRMO of San Mateo headed by Stephen Flores, a Zion Rescue -Rizal District officer. We went to the "Gravel Pit" of which they say that it was the first area affected during typhoon. Flood water in the area usually reached above 5feet. We immediately removed the boat from the car and instruct the Zion Rescue members to put on their safety equipments. We engaged into the waters and had our first patient,a lady who waited for so long just to get home with her husband and kids. I told her that we can take her to their house. Using the 'Ondoy Boat' from Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 128th Squadron, we asked her to ride and take her to her house.

We went back to the base and proceed to Lucy Davies area, the Ampid area. The water is about 17 meters deep. They are monitoring the water level of the river. The alarm level for the water is 21 meters for an emergency water level. We went to the evacuation center to check the settlers in the evacuation area.

Tuesday, Aug 20, 2013 - We proceed to Imus Cavite and assisted the Zion Rescue - Cavite Chapter to evacuate the residents to the nearest evacuation center. We evacuated around 200 individuals using the boat.
In the afternoon, we decided to move to Novelita, Cavite City. Since we dont have transportation, we tried to run to the place and realized that it was too far . We still ran to double our time. We reached Novelita almost at night. We visited the LDS Chapel in the area and found out that it was full of mud. We rescued Fatima  as request by VP Binay and Dr Ted Esguerra. We went home around 2 AM.

Wednesday, Aug 21, 2013, 8:00 AM - We are called by Dr. Ted Esguerra to go to Pampanga as request by the past Mayor of Pampanga as directed by VP Binay. We are with team Rescue 8, Cubao Zion and WISAR. We evaluated the area and found that the city is not safe. They are waiting for the dam to break in before they want to make any move. We left the area and explained to them that we are needed somewhere else.

We went home around 8:00 PM.

Thursday, Aug 22,2013, We received a request from Vice President Boay to go to Laguna, we changed our assignment .  We meet the  Rescueboy and proceed to Zion Rescue - Novaliches Chapter officer and District OIC Joel Canlapan. We were escorted to go to Malolos Bulacan . We meet the Admin of the Municipality of Malolos.

Friday, Aug 23, 2013
We went to DSWD for Relief Operation and  proceed to Marikina.

I am grateful for those who unselfishly gave themselves and render for the sake of others  and to save lives. i am grateful that i was able to meet some of those men who have a real heart of a volunteer.
Hoorah to Zion Rescue!!!
